Another Random Post from the Unfinished Stack...
I think I decided not to complete this because my blog was heavy with film reviews.
A month or so ago I was looking for this post because I could not remember Carmen Amaya's name. It wasn't there! Today I found it on my computer (I wasn't even looking for it!)
Unfinished #3 - 2/4/2005
What I did last night -
At 7 p.m. last night I was at the Guild Theatre watching "Queen of the Gypsies: A Portrait of Carmen Amaya".
I’d heard of Flamenco, I had seen the dance in film and television, but I didn’t really know what it meant. I learned that Carmen Amaya changed the dance of flamenco.
There isn’t any narration in this documentary. Filmmaker Jocelyn Ajami tells us the story of Carmen Amaya through interviews and archival footage. And what wonderful archive footage it is.
Plays at 7 p.m. Thu at the Guild Theatre. The Queen of the Gypsies: A Portrait of Carmen Amaya.
