Portland

A nanny culture with a rebellious streak. A place that embraces process, rejects brashness, and embraces indies and creatives. That is Portland.
I first wrote that after a discussion of the bike culture in my fair city. The discussion was about cyclists. How they gear up, or not. Obey the rules of the road, or not.
Today's article in The Oregonian announcing Intel's plan to make Portland one of four stateside Digital Communities prompted me to think of these characteristics again.
My favorite quote from the article: "You have to have a community that's willing to accept very intangible benefits." That is Portland.
